THE RUMOUR MILL is alive again with talk of a BMW Vision EfficientDynamics inspired sports car. New reports out of the US this morning claim BMW is targeting a 2013 launch date for its plug-in hybrid sports car.
According to US auto site InsideLine, BMW is developing a roadgoing version of the concept - first revealed in September last year - with a limited run of around 5000 to 10,000 units.
While earlier reports suggested a conventional turbo-charged petrol engine would provide motivation, an “executive source” reportedly told InsideLine that the new model will remain true to its hybrid roots.
